The Leprechaun
The Leprechaun horror film series' sleeper is Leprechaun 4: In Space. Yes, it is set in space, but that is precisely what makes it so mind-numbingly fantastic. Leprechaun 4 is an excellent illustration of how to convert a completely ludicrous idea into something really "unique." The film is jam-packed with realistic effects, innovative killings, and hilarious Leprechaun lines that will have you rolling on the floor. Leprechaun 4: In Space is a must-see for fans of the Leprechaun franchise or horror films in general.
Pinhead
Hellraiser: Bloodline is an intriguing series continuation that also acts as a prequel. The plot takes place throughout three time periods: the 1700s, the 1990s, and the 2200s. My hopes for the fourth part in the series were low, and to be honest, I'm just here for Pinhead and the other Cenobites. Doug Bradley's performances are always enjoyable because he retains that chilly, menacing, and demonic atmosphere. This makes no logic and is tough to comprehend, but who cares about any of that? Even if you've watched Hellraiser, you should see Bloodline only for Pinhead's scenes since they're so horrific. If you like Hellraiser or any of Clive Barker's previous works, you should definitely check out this one. Even though there isn't much logic to it, it's a tremendously fun ride.
Critters
I must confess that I was curious when I learned that Critters 4 would take place in space. How, after all, could they beat the previous Critters films? The cast list, though, made it seem less promising when I looked at it later. Darren Dourif? Does Angela Bassett? Anders Hove, a well-known actor from Denmark? Simply put, I couldn't see how this could possibly work.
And when I finally saw Critters 4, my fears were proven right. It had a bad plot, bad characters, and was just a copy of other franchises set in a bad place. From a fan's point of view, what hurts the most is that the (horror sequels) things that made the previous games interesting and unique are either gone or not there at all. Critters 4 is a huge disappointment and a total mess.
Dracula
Dracula 3000 is one of the few bad horror movies that are so bad that they're almost impossible to watch. I hate Dracula 3000 and I love it. Even though it's terrible the whole time, the worst part is the ending, which was a total cop-out and left me feeling very unsatisfied. I thought "Dracula in Space" would be so bad that it would be funny, but it was so bad that it was awful. The idea is fun, but the acting is bad and the dialogue is so bad that it's almost impossible to watch. If you want to feel bad for the rest of the day, you should watch it.
Also, Coolio. It stars Coolio. Did I mention that?
Jason Voorhees
Jason X is the most notorious horror film sequel in which the antagonist travels to outer space. Jason Voorhees is the man, the tale, and the myth. How he entered space is irrelevant. Why he is in space is of little interest to anybody. The only thing that counts is that Jason is in space and prepared to cause chaos.
Jason X, in my view, is worth seeing for easter eggs and references to earlier Friday the 13th films, as well as his transformation into Uber Jason.
While this movie isn't everyone's bag, it's a terrific viewing for horror movie enthusiasts who adore campy, cheesy, slasher pictures.
